OPPO R17 Pro in India to come with SuperVOOC Flash Charge

OPPO R17 Pro in India to come with SuperVOOC Flash Charge

OPPO has confirmed its R17 Pro smartphone in the Indian market will come with SuperVOOC Flash Charge fast-charging technology.

The company had released the first smartphone with SuperVOOC Flash Charge tech — the OPPO Find X Lamborghini Edition — in June this year, but this variant was not released in India. With the OPPO R17 Pro set to launch in India, the company has said in a statement that it will be bringing SuperVOOC Flash Charge tech to the country in December. The smartphone is set to launch in India on December 4th.

SuperVOOC Flash Charge also provides five-core protections to check the safety level when the phone is charging. All nodes, including the charging plug, USB cable, mobile phone, and battery, are separately protected by specialised chips. It can take the OPPO R17 Pro smartphone from zero to 40 percent in 10 minutes.

OPPO claims SuperVOOC can allow for charging at nearly 50W to save users time. It uses a bi-cell design to distribute the output voltage of 10V and reduce the voltage of each cell by half. This, the brand says, assures safety of the device to the same extent as VOOC Flash Charge.

The OPPO R17 Pro has a 6.4-inch AMOLED display with full-HD+ resolution and waterdrop notch. There is an in-display fingerprint sensor embedded in the lower half with 3P Micro Lens. It is powered by the octa-core 1.8GHz Snapdragon 710 SoC, with 8GB of RAM. The smartphone runs Android 8.1 Oreo-based ColorOS 5.2 custom software and packs 128GB of storage that is not expandable.
On the back, the OPPO R17 has a triple camera setup with 12MP + 20MP + 3D TOF depth sensor. The primary 12MP sensor has variable aperture between f/1.5 and f/2.4. For selfies, the smartphone comes with a 25MP shooter in the front with AI Beautify mode and f/2.0 aperture. There is a 3,700mAh battery with Super VOOC support. The company claims its 50W charging technology can charge the phone up to 40 percent in just 10 minutes.

What is Deepfake?

What is Deepfake?

Deepfake is a word derived from “Deep Learning and Fake“. It is an Artificial-Intelligence based Human image Synthesis. It’s a technique to combine in other words morphing an existing image and video onto the source image or videos.
This technology can be used in film editing and virtual reality videos. But unfortunately, it was used to fake the celebrities pornographic videos. This technology was first seen on the internet in 2017, particularly on Reddit Later they banned the deepfakes account. The first ever video found on Reddit was Daisy Ridley deepfake video. Later on, they posted fake videos of Emma Watson, Katy Perry, Taylor Swift or Scarlett Johansson. Those videos aren’t real but create with the help of Artificial Intelligence.

The stress that deepfakes would, one be able to day cause an atomic war is the worst case, however, it skips directly past present and pressing issues of assent, media education, substantial self-rule, and responsibility for claim advanced self. Those issues are not implausible or hypothetical. They are intensified by deepfakes today. Will, somebody makes a fake video of President Donald Trump announcing war against North Korea and get every one of us murdered? Maybe. Be that as it may, the finish of mankind is the most extraordinary final product, and it’s getting more consideration than issues around regarding women’s bodies or evaluating why the general population making deepfakes felt qualified for utilizing their pictures without consent, in the first place.
The first ever headline was published by Motherboard, back in December 2017, said: “AI-Assisted Fake Porn Is Here and We’re All Fucked“.  We are still profoundly fucked. Not on account of a deepfake will prompt atomic war. But since, we have such a significant number of issues we have to settle before we stress over advanced detection of the AI-created video.
The deepfake is not only limited to facial expressions. The new technique considers a variety of movements, including full 3D head positions, head pivot, eye focus, and eye blinking. The new technology utilizes AI as generative neural systems to do the trick, taking information from the signal models and computing, or forecasting, the photorealistic outlines for the given target on-screen character. seriously, the artists don’t need to adjust the designs for existing body hair, the target actor, body, or the background.
Internet reaction on Deepfake:
Some websites, such as Twitter and Gfycat, announced that they would delete Deepfake content and block its publishers. Previously, the chat platform Discord blocked a chat channel with fake celebrity porn videos. The pornography website, Pornhub, also plans to block such content, however, it has been reported that the site has not been enforcing its ban. At Reddit, the situation initially remained unclear until the subreddit was suspended on February 7, 2018, due to the policy violation of “involuntary pornography”. (Source: Wikipedia).
The Department of Defense can’t save us. Technology won’t save us. Being more critically-thinking humans might save us, but that’s a system that’s lot harder to debug than an AI algorithm.

Android : New Galaxy S10 Leak, Nokia 9's Monster Camera, OnePlus 5G Fights OnePlus 7

Android : New Galaxy S10 Leak, Nokia 9's Monster Camera, OnePlus 5G Fights OnePlus 7

Taking a look back at seven days of news and headlines across the world of Android, this week’s Android Circuit includes five lenses for Nokia, six lenses for Samsung, a new OnePlus 5G handset, leaked images of the Pixel 3 Lite, the UK’s first Mi Store from Xiaomi, and Microsoft’s latest fitness feature in its Android launcher.

Android Circuit is here to remind you of a few of the many things that have happened around Android in the last week (and you can find the weekly Apple news digest here).

How Many Lenses?

While the Galaxy S10 likely to make up the bulk of Samsungs’s high-end handset sales in 2019, the South Korean company is focusing on two more models to showcase its innovative talent. As well as the Galaxy F folding smartphone, more details came out this week of a monster six-lensed cameraphone.

The headline changes are head-turners. Samsung’s Beyond X will have six cameras, a massive 6.7-inch display and built-in 5G. This will make the Beyond X (release name unknown) Samsung’s biggest and, arguably, most ambitious flagship to date. It will sit above the regular 5.8-inch Galaxy S10, a 6.4-inch Galaxy S10+ and a new ‘flat’ budget Galaxy S10 designed to take on Apple’s iPhone XR.

As for the six cameras, two are expected to be on the front with four on the rear. Standard, optical zoom and wide-angle lenses seem logical but the role of the fourth lens is unclear. That said, renowned Samsung insider Ice Universe recently tweeted that boardroom pressure is mounting to reclaim the smartphone photography crown it has conceded to Apple and Google in recent years.

Six Lenses For An Even Closer Shave

Samsung is not the only company working with multiple lenses in its smartphones. The latest leaked details of the Nokia 9 suggest that an even more complicated camera is coming out of Finland

Thanks to images of a Nokia 9 case published by SlashLeaks (below), we can see an orientation of seven holes, the assumption being that there are five lenses, one flash, and one autofocus sensor.

The use of five lenses opens up many possibilities depending on the lenses used and how the information would combine. Expect a mix of telephoto lenses for optical zoom, monochrome sensors, improved low light capability, or any combination of the above.

OnePlus Prepares A Challenger To The OnePlus 7

Given the historical rhythm, the geekerati are expecting OnePlus to release the OnePlus 7 at some point in late Q2. But that might not be the next handset from the Shenzhen-based manufacturer. There’s a motive (5G networks), there’s an opportunity (with a US network), and as OnePlus grows as a company, there is a means to explore further growth, as I noted earlier this week:

T-Mobile will be looking to launch 5G in the US during 2019. If OnePlus has a 5G handset, and T-Mobile is looking for a 5G handset, there is a clear opportunity.

Curiously, this handset is not going to be the presumptively named OnePlus 7… the 5G handset is going to kick off a new line from OnePlus.

Pixel 3 Lite Images Leak

The rumors of a ‘lite’ version of the Google Pixel have been building this week with leaked specs and images showing up online. It appears that the handset is sporting a SnapDragon 670, backed up by 4GB of RAM and 32GB of on-board storage. It may also ship with a 2915mAh battery, USB-C, and a 3.5mm stereo headphone jack. Ben Schoon reports:

Courtesy of Rozetked.me, a Russian publication who also leaked the Pixel 3 XL ahead of launch, we’re seeing the device known as “Sargo.” We’ve heard the “Sargo” codename just in the past couple of weeks too alongside “Bonito.” The report refers to this device as the Pixel 3 Lite, but there’s nothing to back up that this is what Google’s branding for the device is.

At first glance, this device looks a whole lot like the Pixel 3 family, especially the smaller model. There are some pretty huge changes here, though, including the fact that the entire phone is built from a plastic material instead of the metal and glass that make up the Pixel 3.

The UK’s First Mi Store Is… Open!

Following the launch of its Mi8 Pro smartphone, Xiaomi has continued to broaden its beachhead in the United Kingdom with the opening of the first Mi Store. It can be found in the Westfield shopping centre in London with a wide range of products. GizmoChina reports:

Last week, Xiaomi entered the UK market with the launch of select products, including Mi 8 Pro, Mi 8, Mi 8 Lite, Redmi 6A entry-level smartphone, Mi Band 3 fitness tracker, and the Mi electric scooter.

Now, the company has also opened its first brick-and-mortar Mi Store in Westfield London, making it the company’s first official Mi Store in the UK.

A day before the company officially announced its expansion to the UK market, Xiaomi had started selling its Pocophone F1 in the UK through Amazon. Now, the smartphone is available for purchase through the Mi Store as well.

And Finally…

It may not be sitting at the core of the mobile operating systems, but Microsoft’s Android launcher makes a good pitch at dominating the middleware layer. The latest addition to the utility is digital health tracking. Jon Fingas reports:

Microsoft doesn't really have a mobile operating system these days, but that isn't stopping it from providing some digital health features to keep your usage habits in check. Install the Microsoft Launcher 5.1 beta release and you'll see a "digital health" section that tracks aspects like your total screen time, number of unlocks and session lengths. So long as you're paying attention to these stats in the first place, you'll have an idea of when it's time to put your phone down.

Microsoft to create a Windows 10 Bug Dashboard

Microsoft to create a Windows 10 Bug Dashboard

Regular readers may have noted our reporting of Windows 10 bugs have become more detailed. This is due to Microsoft being more open about the bugs they are finding as they are deploying the Windows 10 October 2018 update, after the earlier file deletion fiasco.

Now Microsoft has undertaken to make this a permanent feature of their support of Windows 10, by creating a dashboard which end users and admins can use to easily look up current known issues with the operating system, with work around and when Microsoft plans to fix them.

The plans were announced in a recent blog post where Microsoft said:

We plan to add a Windows update status dashboard in the coming year to provide more information on any issues that lead to update blocks. For this current October Update rollout we will be providing regular updates for notable issues on the public Window 10 update history page.

Other divisions already provide such pages, such as the “Fixes or workarounds for recent issues in Outlook for Windows” page here.

The move was welcomed by Susan Bradley, a computer network and security consultant, who also moderates the PatchMangement.org mailing list, who said:

“I can go to this page and see if something happening with Office 365 is just a me thing or if everyone else is seeing the same, but if I want to find out if something is a known issue with Windows 10, I have to dig through – and monitor for changes – these pages,” listing two separate support documents for one such known issue.

Unfortunately Microsoft has not said when the dashboard will arrive, but when it does it should leave us all better informed in the end.
‘Millions of diabetes patients may not have access to insulin by 2030’

‘Millions of diabetes patients may not have access to insulin by 2030’

Type 2 diabetes comprises the majority of people with diabetes around the world. Credits: Getty Images
The number of people with type 2 diabetes worldwide has been estimated to increase from 405.6 million in 2018 to 510·8 million by 2030, according to study by a Stanford University-led research team released on November 20.
Diabetes is a progressive disease and the body may require insulin injections to compensate for declining insulin production by the pancreas.
However, as per the study, around 33 million people with type 2 diabetes do not have access to insulin, and by 2030, the number will touch 41 million. Insulin use is estimated to increase from 516·1 million 1000 IU vials per year in 2018 to 633·7 million per year in 2030, says the study.
Type 2 diabetes comprises the majority of people with diabetes around the world, and is caused largely due to excess body weight and physical inactivity. This type of diabetes was earlier seen only in adults but it is now also occurring in children.
Doctors may initially prescribe oral medication and lifestyle changes, such as exercise and weight loss, to most people with type 2 diabetes, but they eventually need to take insulin to avoid complications like damage to the heart, kidneys, eyes, and nervous system.
The study says that the demand for insulin is likely to rise by 20% by 2030, and the lack of availability will subsequently put patients at risk of developing complications.
If insulin was readily available, there would be over 330,000 fewer disability-adjusted life years, says the study.
The report drew data from the International Diabetes Federation and other studies, and looked at the needs of people with type 2 diabetes across 220 countries.
The International Diabetes Federation estimates that in 2010, India, China, the United States, Russia and Brazil accounted for the largest numbers of people. It further says that in 2010, Nauru, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Mauritius and Bahrain had the highest diabetes prevalence in the adult population.
“These estimates suggest that current levels of insulin access are highly inadequate compared to projected need, particularly in Africa and Asia,” Sanjay Basu, a physician and epidemiologist at Stanford University and lead author of the paper, told the Guardian. According to a American Diabetes Association, prices of insulin have almost tripled between 2002 and 2013.
A DTE report says that India harbours 73 million adults with diabetes. Reports say that low and middle income countries face the greatest burden of diabetes. It further says that in many countries, the cost of insulin injection and daily monitoring alone can consume half of a family’s average disposable income, and regular and affordable access to essential diabetes medicines are out of reach for many. “Improving access to affordable diabetes medicines and care is therefore urgent to avoid increased costs for the individual and family, which impact health outcomes.”
The study notes that unless governments take initiative to make insulin more readily available, millions suffering from diabetes are likely to go without proper treatment.
Ayodhya Welcome Uddhav Thackeray With Black Flags

Ayodhya Welcome Uddhav Thackeray With Black Flags

Ayodhya Welcome Uddhav Thackeray With Black Flags on his visit to Ayodhya.
Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray to offer prayers, participate in rituals
Vishwa Hindu Parishad is also holding a big event in Ayodhya on Sunday
Mega religious gathering to mount pressure on government for Ram temple

Uttar Pradesh's Ayodhya is headed for a tense weekend with two major events to push for the construction of Ram temple slated for Sunday. First off the block will be the Shiv Sena, whose chief Uddhav Thackeray will be in Ayodhya today for a two-day visit.

The Sena chief will offer prayers at the Ram janmabhoomi, participate in the aarti by the Sarayu river and will speak to saints and people there. He is carrying a pot full of soil from the Shivneri fort in Pune, which will be handed over to the mahant or priest at the janmabhoomi.

The Shiv Sena's political presence in Uttar Pradesh is negligible. Sena leader Sanjay Raut, who is in Ayodhya, raised brows when he said, "We demolished the Babri masjid in 17 minutes, how much time does it take to draw up papers? If you talk about an ordinance, then from the President's House Rashtrapati Bhavan to Uttar Pradesh, it is BJP all the way. What else do you want?"

The bigger event in Ayodhya though is a "dharma sansad" being organised by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) on Sunday. The organisation says it will be the biggest congregation of saints and supporters of the Ram temple since 1992 when the Babri Masjid was razed. The agenda is to discuss the way forward for the construction of the Ram temple, the right wing organisation said.

The VHP has been mobilising support for its big event through bike rallies and processions across UP in the last few days.

Ayodhya: There is a CRPF ring around the disputed site, the government has assured.

One such event led to a clash in eastern Uttar Pradesh's Mirzapur. "There was a minor dispute during a Ram-Janaki bike yatra by the VHP through minority-populated areas and some tension in Kanpur, but in both the cases, there was no loss of life or major destruction. But the events have been enough for Muslim litigants in the Ayodhya title suit to ask for security. Our houses were burnt down in 1992 (during the demolition of the Babri Masjid)," said Iqbal Ansari, one of the main litigants in the Ayodhya land dispute case.

"If a crowd pours in here, like in 1992, the Muslims of Ayodhya and I should be given protection. If my security is not heightened, I'll leave the city before November 25," he added.

But the VHP claimed that Ram bhakts are always in control. "These are disciplined people, always in control. They only need direction and that will come from our saints. This is a religious programme," said Sharad Sharma, spokesperson of the VHP.

Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has urged the Supreme Court to send the army, if necessary, to keep the situation under control.

"The BJP doesn't believe in either the Supreme Court or the Constitution. The party can go to any extent. The kind of environment there is in UP, especially in Ayodhya, the Supreme Court should take notice of it and send the army if necessary," said Akhilesh Yadav, chief of the Samajwadi Party.
COMMENT

From top to several mid-level police officers, 160 inspectors, 700 constables, 42 companies of Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC), five companies of Rapid Action Force (RAF), Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) commandos and drone cameras have been deployed in Ayodhya. There is a CRPF ring around the disputed site, the government has assured.
Even Berlin Wall fell : Said Pm Modi Kartarpur corridor

Even Berlin Wall fell : Said Pm Modi Kartarpur corridor

NEW DELHI:

A day after the union cabinet announced the development of the Kartarpur Sahib corridor, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday compared it with the Berlin Wall that divided East and West Germany before it was pulled down in 1989. He said if the Wall could fall, the proposed corridor could act as a bridge between the people of India and Pakistan.

"Had anyone ever thought that the Berlin Wall would fall. May be with the blessings of Guru Nanak Devji, this Kartarpur corridor will not just remain a corridor, but act as a bridge between the peoples of the two countries," PM Modi said at a Gurupurab function at the residence of Shiromani Akali Dal President Sukhbir Singh Badal in Delhi.

While speaking at a function to mark the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev at the residence of Union food processing minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal in New Delhi, PM Modi referred to the Partition and said, “What has happened in 1947 has happened.” He said the issues between the governments and the armies would continue and only time will show the way out.

Kartarpur Sahib is located across Ravi river in Pakistan and is about four km from the Dera Baba Nanak shrine. The demand to build a corridor linking India’s border district of Gurdaspur with a historic gurudwara in Pakistan has been a long-pending demand of the Sikh community. The corridor, once built, will give Indian pilgrims easy access to the shrine in Kartarpur.

Hours after India cleared the proposal to develop the corridor, Pakistan welcomed the move and conveyed its decision to open the Kartarpur corridor.

“It is a step in the right direction and we hope such steps will encourage voice of reason and tranquility on both sides of the border,” Pakistan information and broadcasting minister Fawad Chaudhry tweeted.

Abhijit Bose as its New India Head : Whatsapp

Abhijit Bose as its New India Head : Whatsapp

New Delhi Popular messaging app WhatsApp has named Abhijit Bose as its India Head, meeting one of the key demands made by the Indian government.

Bose, who will join the messaging platform early next year, will build WhatsApp's first full country team outside of California and will be based in Gurugram, WhatsApp said in a statement.

Bose and his team will focus on helping businesses, both large and small, connect with their customers, it added.

WhatsApp is deeply committed to India and we are excited to keep building products that help people connect and support India's fast-growing digital economy," Matt Idema, Chief Operating Officer of WhatsApp, said.

As a successful entrepreneur himself, Bose knows what it takes to build meaningful partnerships that can serve businesses across India, he added.

He joins WhatsApp from Ezetap where he has served as co-founder and CEO. Founded in 2011, Ezetap is an electronic payments company backed by top-tier Venture Capitalists.

The appointment comes at a time when the Facebook-owned company has been under tremendous pressure to put in place a mechanism to curb fake messages on its platform, that incited mob fury.

The government has been pressing WhatsApp to develop tools to combat fake or false messages, and also identify message originators.

Apart from the traceability request, the government had asked WhatsApp to set up a local corporate presence and appoint a grievance officer to address complaints. Whatsapp has recently appointed a grievance officer for India.

Following multiple incidents of mob-lynching across the country, the government had slapped WhatsApp with two notices, with the second one warning that it will treat the messaging platform as an abettor of rumour propagation and legal consequences will follow if adequate checks are not put in place.
Reliance Jio New Service Provider To Railways To Replace Bharti Airtel

Reliance Jio New Service Provider To Railways To Replace Bharti Airtel

Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd. will serve the country’s largest and most sought-after accounts in telecom — the Indian Railways — from Jan. 1, with officials saying it is likely to slash the national transporter’s phone bills by around 35 percent at least.

Railways has been using Bharti Airtel Ltd. for over six years as its telecom provider for 1.95 lakh mobile phone connections used by its employees in closed user group across the country for which the railways paid around Rs 100 crore bill a year, they said.
Its validity will expire on Dec. 31 this year.
A Railway Board order issued on Nov. 20 said it “had assigned the responsibility to RailTel (railway public sector unit) for finalisation of fresh CUG scheme for Indian Railways as the validity of the existing scheme is expiring on Dec. 31, 2018,” said the order which detailed the tariff rates to be provided by the company. “Fresh CUG scheme had since been finalised by RailTel and Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited has been awarded the contract to implement the scheme.” It will come into effect from Jan. 1.
CUG is a supplementary service provided by the mobile operators to subscribers who can make and receive calls from any member associated within the group. This service is applicable for SMS also.
Under the scheme, Reliance Jio, the latest entrant in the telecom market, will provide 4G/3G connections and calls will be free of charge.
The company will provide four packages to railways: one for its senior most officials (two percent subscribers)—a 60 GB plan with a monthly rental of Rs 125; a 45 GB plan at a monthly rental of Rs 99 for its joint secretary level officers (26 percent subscribers); a 30 GB plan at a rental of Rs 67 for Group C staff (72 percent subscribers); and a Rs 49 rental plan for bulk SMS.
For regular subscribers, a 25 GB plan of Jio is available for Rs 199 and subscribers have to pay Rs 20 a GB thereafter to top up their plans.
Railway employees have to pay Rs 10 for 2 GB of extra data they use and more thereafter, according to the plan worked out by Jio.
While under the present scheme railways is charged for calls outside CUG, the plan from Jan. 1 will not do so. Also, the 3G/4G data pack in effect from next year is much cheaper than the present packs available to railways.
“While Airtel is serving around 1.95 lakh railway subscribers, Jio will serve 3.78 lakh personnel of the railways, and because of the increase in the numbers, we are getting a better deal from the service provider. As a result of this, we are likely to reduce our phone bill by around 35 percent,” a senior official said.
Last month, Reliance Jio Infocomm had emerged as the lowest bidder for the account beating Bharti Airtel and Vodafone. Sources say that while railways had demanded free calls from the bidders and got it from all of them, it was the low-cost data that made Jio the frontrunner.
